This cover is in the book style and will fit both the original Nook and the Kindle Fire. The exterior fabric is a bold and bright yellow and white zig zag cotton print. I have lined it with a solid white cotton.
To give the cover soft structure and a slightly padded look I use interfacing and batting as an interlining. The device is held on one side on the interior by 4 corner triangles and the opposite side has some slip pockets which you can use to place any extra you might want to take. It closes like a book and is held secured with a fabric tab and velcro.
When closed this case measures about 6" by 8 3/4".
The area where the nook/kindle fire will go measures about 5 5/8" by 8 1/2" keep in mind that your device does have some depth.
